Another sunny day, a bus trip with a stop at Harrods and a look around Knightsbridge, then the Picadilly, Trafalgar, Leicester Square, Soho, Chinatown and realising that my sense of direction is quite amazing despite the fact that I cannot read a map. BUT do you think we could find Covent Garden? In the end we did not try that hard because we had to get to Shaftesbury Avenue for our show.
What an amazing theatre and wonderful show. Loud, full of energy and an incredible leading man.The entire audience were up on their feet and dancing to Mustang Sally and the final four songs. Brilliant.
Then back to Trafalgar Square to find the bus that would get us to Dulwich Village. The bus took us through some of the very dicey areas of London before we arrived at this stunning village with real country houses and beautiful gardens. Michael's favourite cousin Philip, who were were hoping to see before he died, died last week. What we thought may be a difficult visit was a very special evening with his family. We visited the village church where his funeral will be in two weeks time and then went back to their home for dinner. Such great children and the evening was spent in their wonderful garden (in daylight), eating salmon and salads, sharing stories, some tears, many laughs, great wine (lots of it) and the most incredible white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake for dessert.
The night bus back was entertaining and brought back memories of stories I had heard from my boys' adventures in London. I was so tempted to pull Michael off the bus at Clapham Junction where there was much partying, dancing and drinking on the pavements. We also found our way back to the Hobbit Hole without any problems and no map.
A late night after a busy day and lots to look forward to today. Best I get myself half-pretty for today's happenings. Can't wait to see Sean.
