a funny thing came into my head

Having heard much about 'The Hobbit Hole' (Aimee, Dave and Lucie's flat in Putney) it was quite strange walking into it for the first time.

I surprise myself sometimes with the arb things that I remember in great detail. Michael thought I was crazy when I started reciting a poem from one of my childhood books minutes after walking into the basement flat and seeing feet walk past the lounge window.

I can still see the pictures and page on which this poem was written.  Googling this now, I am even more surprised that every word was correct.

I recited it again on our way home last night.  10 o'clock, exhausted and ready for bed and  still daylight outside. Aimee took us for a lovely Italian meal on the river.  We sat outside and the whole place was buzzing. It was also quite ironic that the square on which we were sitting was the place that I met Lucie and Aimee for the first time, almost exactly 10 years ago.

I woke up early this morning. Some of our plans have had to change and we are now free this morning. A trip on the bus, a visit to Harrods deli, Royal Albert Hall, Knightsbridge and then to Covent Gardens. We are going to see The Commitments this afternoon in Shaftesbury Avenue and are visiting family in Dulwich Village for dinner tonight. Tomorrow our trip and tour of Lords has also had to change to when we return to London on the 22nd as they are fully booked this weekend (we have tickets but you had to confirm and I was late!!). We are meeting up with a 'favourite son' for lunch tomorrow and some more sightseeing.

I have been up since 5.30. I have 'chatted'  to Matt in Hong Kong and checked in on Alfie in Cape Town. Michael is still fast asleep. My back is bruised from the rod that goes through the middle of my backpack, so I hate to think how stiff and sore he is this morning. He had to carry the 20kg big case up and down steps at about four different stations yesterday.

Time for another cup of tea and then to see what the day brings.

I will have to get dressed before I venture outside to see the sky because I cannot really see it from my spot in this quaint basement flat.

Have a great day!
