day seven - scotland to Yorkshire

It was sad to say goodbye to our wonderful hosts and to Scotland. Scotland was more than I expected - great scenery, quaint towns, friendly people and yes, the skies are often grey but we did see patches of bright sunshine and even got a touch of a tan. Glad of the day we had at St Andrews because yesterday looked nasty and I have just seen that today play is delayed because of high winds.

We caught a bus yesterday from Glasgow to Skipton in Yorkshire. Jennifer and Andrea were waiting for us and we took a walk around the town - a lovely market town with cobbled streets and lots of fruit and clothing stalls on the sides of the roads. We stopped for a much needed cup of tea and a slice of cake (scone for me) and then headed off to see where the Bronte sisters lived.

We are now at Jennifer and Andrea's lovely, cosy home. I feel a bit like I am part of my favourite Milly Molly Mandy childhood book as the upstairs has low windows looking over a field (with a cow), the ceilings are low and sloped and I have to duck to get into the bathroom. The house is filled with books, African art and batiks. The kitchen smells of baking. The sun came up early this morning and shone brightly through the skylight in our bedroom but the house is quiet, Michael is still fast asleep, the sky seems to have clouded over a bit and I am about to creep down the winding staircase to make myself a cup of tea. Watch your head Jennifer!!

Skipton
Brother and sister reunited (caught them at a serious moment - they really were very happy to see each other)
Great picture (if I say so myself). The graveyard next to the parsonage where the Brontes lived

The original Railway Children with Jenny Agutter was filmed here (another great pic hey?)
Awesome little village
Jennifer Andrea and Michael

The cutest shops (lucky they had closed or I would have wanted to go into every one)
Clever idea (Janetta?)
More hanging flower boxes
Up the hill and home we go

Okay, you need to see it - The view from my bed

Can't see where the cow is now (probably milking time)

That's it for today folks - Have a great Saturday and I hope the weather is clearing in Cape Town. Glad to hear about the rain. How full are the dams now? You guys can also give me some news (or am I the only one having fun?)
